Cryptocurrency donation: retrieve a received transfer and understand its destination

An old bitcoin or token donation may leave a transaction reference. Find the network, destination and proof of the transfer received.

Identify what has actually been sent

A cryptocurrency donation can correspond to a transfer to a wallet, a credit on a platform, or a promise left unfollowed. Start with the date, asset name, and way of sending. If the donor is known, ask for a public reference or withdrawal confirmation, without his portfolio secrets. The “sent” message is not enough to reconstruct the destination of the transfer.

Find the right network and destination

Two assets can have a similar name and circulate across different networks. So a copy address without context may be insufficient. Keep the full transaction reference, the indicated network, and the source of the document. If a platform was a recipient, also look for a deposit confirmation in your own account. A visible public transfer does not, by itself, explain the credit of a hosted account.

Repeat what happened after receipt

The donation may have been preserved, sold, transferred or converted. To understand a potential current balance, look for the continuation of the history rather than multiplying the initial amount by a daily rate. An old capture documents a date, not necessarily the present situation. If you do not know what happened next, report that lack. The chronology should show confirmed facts and points to be examined.

A gift given to a family member

Specify to whom the gift was intended and who can act today. A shared family address or a device used by multiple does not prove a common property. If the search involves a relative or an inheritance, rights and permissions must be established separately. Find the cryptos of a close friend Explain the first things to be prepared.
